My Favorite Winter Breakfast

I am not a breakfast person. Most mornings I'm lucky to get out the door with a granola bar and coffee.  Ok---if I'm being honest I'm less a breakfast person due to my laziness rather than my distaste of breakfast food.  If hitting the snooze button was a sport I'd be an Olympian.

If I had all the time in the world to cook up a delicious omelet or pancakes of course I would! But I don't. Usually my breakfast (or lack there of) routine is fine but during the Winter my soul craves a hot breakfast. There's just something about the feeling of something warm hitting your tummy during cold weather that does the body good.

Currently this oatmeal is on repeat because it fulfills all of my needs--warm, healthy, filling, and most importantly fast. Bonus--it kind of tastes like dessert.

My favorite winter breakfast! Chocolate oatmeal made with cocoa powder topped with banana and peanut butter greek yogurt!

{Chocolate PB and Banana Oatmeal}
1/2 cup quick oats (I made mine with almond milk in the microwave)
1.5 teaspoons cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon of sugar or sugar substitute
dollop of Greek yogurt mixed with tablespoon of peanut butter
1/2 banana

What breakfast do you crave when it gets cold?

  1. That looks delicious! I'm not a breakfast person either but I started having Ezekiel bread with almond butter and a banana sliced on top. It's quick, easy and really delicious!

  2. That looks really delicious! I LOVE oatmeal, but I'm super picky now about the brand--for something super quick, I like Nature's path gluten free brown sugar oatmeal. You just need to boil water, or you can microwave it, and you're good to go--super easy to make at the office!

  5. I love oatmeal. Although, I am just like you and snooze constantly and can't seem to get moving in the morning. I usually make oatmeal at like 10 am at work...haha

  6. Love that this is fast. I'm really bad about breakfast. I sleep in and then have coffee until it's lunch time.

  7. Sounds delicious! I love that you can meal prep oatmeal mixes ahead of time for the week making it super easy to just add water/milk and pop in the microwave.

  9. That looks so good!!! I miss grains and dairy, overnight oats in an empty nutella or peanut butter jar to "clean it out" used to be one of my favorite things!!

  10. I have the same thing every week day - yogurt with a bit of cereal (with dried fruit in it) sprinkled on top. I am lazy also!

  11. Yummm! I eat oatmeal for breakfast pretty much every weekday, so this recipe is right up my alley. My oatmeal game-changer lately has been this chocolate peanut butter I got from Whole Foods this weekend (it's the kind that you churn out on the spot in the store-- just peanuts and chocolate chips). You should check it out!

  14. I don't care for the texture of oatmeal, but this does look yummy! My favorite winter breakfast is cheese grits with a bowl of citrus fruit on the side. Yum!

  15. I'll have to try this recipe. Oatmeal is a quick and easy thing for me to eat in the morning, but it gets so boring. I'm constantly looking for new variations to try.
