Halloween Costume Inspiration

Growing up Halloween was not really a big deal. Sure, we always dressed up and went trick or treating but I never recall stressing over a costume or being overly excited. That all changed during college. Whoever said Halloween is just for the kids is dead wrong. It is SO much more fun as an adult! Every year around the beginning of September I start thinking about costumes. The perfect costume to me is the right amount of cute, funny, timely---and it must be creative. I'm not a big fan of the costume in a bag that you find at big stores. Most of the fun for me comes from crafting it on my own.

I've had some doozies over the years....

Loofa
Toddlers in Tiaras

Cruella

Oh and yea...the time my mom thought it would be cute to dress an 8 year old as a creepy mime.

Here are some cute ideas I've seen floating around for this year!

  4. I saw that pineapple costume on Instagram and LOVED it. I wish I had a cute little yellow dress and I'd totally rock that. The gumball machine is adorable too. I think I'm going to be boring and go with one of my two stand-bys flapper, or black cat. haha.

  5. Love the loofah costume - and is your friend dressed as a mail order bride? So clever! I haven't dressed up for Halloween in years, but I would love the chance to do a couple's costume with my husband. There are so many fun ideas for those!

  7. Yes to toddlers in tiaras! My big did that in college and refused to bend her elbows the whole night so that should would have pageant arms. I love Halloween, but have so far just gotten really excited about dressing up my pets! Thanks for the great ideas.

  8. I love trying to be creative every year and come up with something not 'out of a bag' like you said- it makes it fun! However this year, I am totally behind and Jared and I haven't agreed on anything yet haha. We have a party this Saturday so I should probably get on it ;) I was Cruella last year!

  12. I love the loofah! I don't think we're doing anything this year, but I loved it in college! My sorority had an annual Halloween party and it was a blast. I went as Cleopatra my senior year and that was my favorite costume!
