10 Recipes to Get You in the Fall Spirit

I know, I know everyone is going bananas over Fall. Our Instagram feeds are full of PSL, booties, blanket scarves, and SO MUCH pumpkin. However, if you're anywhere below the Mason Dixon line you know it's hard to get in the Fall spirit when it's still so hot and humid outside in the afternoon. If I were to wear a blanket scarf right now I would be drenched in sweat by noon. Luckily, the cooler weather will be here before we know it and we can soak up all the festivities of the season.

I've been reading Bread and Wine by Shauna Niequist (highly recommend!) and it has me thinking about the relationships we have with food. When I think of Fall food I think of crock pots full of chili, spending a whole afternoon with my mom making her meticulous but delicious pumpkin rolls, and sitting on a patio with a cold pumpkin ale. As good as these food and drinks are it's the people and experiences we are having alongside them that makes everything so special and memorable.

Here are my picks for recipes to get you in the mood for Fall!

I'm a huge fan girl of Ali from Gimme Some Oven. I made her Tuscan Gnocchi soup last night and it was fantastic. I'm excited to try out this butternut squash soup!

I'd spike this up of course. Just add vodka or bourbon (duh).

Pumpkin French Toast (via)

Joy the Baker is my culinary muse. How do I know? She makes her chicken pot pie with double the crust.

If you tell me you don't like Applebee's Spinach and Artichoke Dip I will call you a damn liar. This recipe looks right on the money to recreate it.

Almost too cute to eat.

Everybody's doing it.

What's your favorite fall recipe?

  1. I'm drooling. That pot pie looks delicious. I don't know anyone who dislikes Applebees Spinach Artichoke Dip even people who dislike spinach and artichoke love it. Since Apple Day is this weekend I predict it will be cold and rainy. Because that always seems to be the case.

  9. I just finished Bread and Wine a couple of weeks ago and was obsessed with it!! I've already made her risotto recipe twice! Have you read any of her other books?
