Weekend Round-Up // The Best Self-Tanner

I had a wonderful weekend celebrating this lovely lady's birthday!

The weekend was full of so MUCH good food. I am an app girl and would most of the time rather split several appetizers than a regular meal. I was totally the girl taking pictures of her food all weekend..oh well.

If you ever find yourself in Louisville you should do yourself a favor and go to Gralehaus for breakfast. My french toast with whipped ricotta was so tasty and the iced strawberry latte was above and beyond an iced coffee.

Per usual, I can't pass up a good sale. I found this Madewell dress that is very stretchy, comfortable, and perfect for work. Plus, how cute are the side panels and it has pockets!

I also picked up these gladiators from Nordstrom Rack. I always find the cutest shoes at Rack and have been wanting a pair of gladiators for a bit but was unsure really what I wanted. I kind of feel like I should be busting out a dominatrix whip in these babies.  But since I love my Sam Edelman Gigi sandals so much I decided to go for it. Similar here. What do you all think about the gladiator trend?

The Best Self-Tanner

It's this time of year that I become acutely aware of my ghostly paleness. I refuse to lay in the tanning bed and pretty much always wear at least an SPF 30 when outdoors so this leaves me with only spray tan and self-tanner options. But we all know that working with these products can be difficult and there's always that chance you'll turn out looking like an oompa loompa or walk around with orange streaks down the back of your leg. After reading Katie's post last week on sunless tanners I knew I had to try St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse
the best self-tanner

It is a little pricey at about $40 a bottle but it's honestly the best I've ever tried. It goes on so smooth, dries fast, absolutely NO odor, and looks flawless after it dries. I don't think I will ever go get another spray tan after using this--it's that good!

Do you have a self-tanner that you swear by?

  4. I'm so such a foodie! All of the food looks SO good. I'm also loving that dress and those shoes. I'm currently on the hunt for a pair of black sandals, so I'm going to have to check those out!

Oh, I'm totally the one taking pictures of all of my food too. My family and friends have gotten use to it :)!

  5. I think I am going to check out that self-tanner! I used to love tanning when I was younger and now that I know how terrible it is, I steer clear of the sun and when I am outside I slather sunscreen on - and then look like a ghost LOL. (hence the need for self-tanner ;)) BTW, I love dresses with pockets too!!

  6. YUMMM!!! All that food. I haven't used St Tropez yet, I use Tanwise and I love it. I'll have to look into St Tropez.

  7. Love that Madewell dress! I use Nivea's self tanner and like it okay and it's pretty reasonably priced. However, I think I may have to try the St. Tropez now!

  11. I'm totally an appetizer girl too- especially when places offer app samplers- YES please!! ;) Thanks for the recommendation for Gralehaus... We go to Louisville once a year usually and always love trying new spots!

  12. I love St. Tropez, it is one that I feel truly doesn't have a strong smell and you can wear out and about instead just at bedtime, haha! The Madewell dress was a great find!

  15. Ive been looking for a great self tanner but I just hate that if you try it and it looks bad you are stuck trying to get it off before going out in public!

  16. I might have to take you up on that self tanner advice. Im always so scared of looking like a carrot, I just embrace my paleness.

  17. Oh my goodness that food looks AMAZING!! I have heard great things about St Tropez but just do not want to spend the money. I think I'm afraid of getting hooked on such a pricey product!

  18. Well do I love YOU for sharing this! I try to stay out of the sun as much as possible (directly, anyway) since I'm so fair-skinned so self-tanner is always on my brain in the summertime ;) I haven't tried this but will need to check it out. Thanks, lady!

  22. I'm going to the beach next weekend, so I spent this weekend searching for a tanner. I went with my favorite go-to, which is Tan Towels. I really love how they work and don't leave you looking orange. I really wanted to try something new for fun though, but didn't know what! I'll definitely be giving the St. Tropez a try next!

  25. We have to meet for apps sometime in Louisville! I'm with you, I'd rather have them than a meal sometimes! And we love Gralehaus! Can you really go wrong anywhere in Louisville?! I've heard such good things about St. Tropez lately! I have to try it!

  26. I like how you segued from all that yummy food to the stretchy dress. LOL Thanks for the tip on the tanner - I'm definitely going to look into it!

  28. I'm always the girl taking pictures of her food. Ha! Those dishes looked amazing - especially the salad with avocado and onion rings. Yum. :)

  29. It's the bbq ranch chicken salad from the Cheescake Factory. I can never pass it up!

  30. Thanks for sharing about that self tanner! I have the buildable lotion by St. Tropez and it is ehhh. Nothing special at all. I was reluctant to try another of their products but maybe I will give the mouse a go.

  31. That French toast looks amazing! I like the Victoria's Secret self tanner--it's reasonably priced and has a good color to it.

  32. Cute dress! i've never tanned before, so I have a stupid question. How do you get your face to match the color of your body (asked by an extremely pale girl)?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Not a stupid question at all! I usually don't use the self-tanner on my face because it makes me too nervous about streaking and I worry about clogged pores. I make my face blend in with rest of my body by using bronzers.

  36. I have heard suchhhh good things about that self tanner - do you use it on your face too? And I am with you... I'm a total app girl!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't use it on my face. I think they make particular kind for the face only. I generally just use bronzing powder to make my face match up.

  38. I'm in desperate need of casual clothes! Thanks so much for coming by :)

  39. I have a feeling that you and I would get along quiiiiiiiite nicely, since we're both app girls!! You'll get nachos, I'll get spinach dip, and we'll go halfsies, ok?
Cute dress, cute shoes, and that St. Tropez stuff seems to be all the rage lately! Gotta add that to the "to-try" list...
