5 on Friday

One. Urban Decay Naked Foundation

I was in Ulta the other day to get my eyebrows waxed and like usual fell into the black hole of products and barely made it out...well without signing over my paycheck. For years I have used just the basic Bare Minerals powder system but recently have been feeling a little blah with it and looking for more. I started browsing the Urban Decay counter and was drawn to the Naked Skin foundation. Clumpy, thick, dark foundation is not me. I prefer a lightweight one with minimal coverage so decided to give this a try. Urban Decay makes a great eye shadow palette so I risked it.

Needless to say it was worth the risk..I love it. The bottle has a nice little pump which is really convenient and the formula is spot on. It's very light and almost has an airbrush quality finish. I know everyone has different skin and preferences but it's a winner in my book.

Two. Sale Codes

Earlier in the week I let you all in on my little secret that I've found the perfect Self Tan Bronzing Mousse. Ghost legs no more! Luckily, for you all I saw via twitter (follow me!) that St. Tropez is offering a great deal for Memorial Day weekend--35% off all products with the code: MDAY35. Snatch this up because it rarely goes on sale!

Did you see my post about Rent the Runway and how it's the perfect option for all the summer weddings or events you have? I am a Rent the Runway affiliate and this great company is giving new customers who sign up using the below code $25 of their first rental (of $75 or more). This is a great opportunity to try the company out and get an even better dress for your next event :)

Three. Nordstrom Sale

I know, I know, everyone is posting their sale picks but just indulge me. I picked up the KS cuff for myself :)

Four. Memorial Day Recipes

If you follow me on Pinterest (I'm here!) you've likely seen that I've been blowing up my feed with yummy summer recipes. This weekend begins the "unofficial" beginning of summer to me and I'm so ready for grilling, picnics, and family bbqs. Here are some that are getting me excited for the weekend!

Five. A Favor

Ok, I need a favor and/or advice. I've been asked by the elementary school I attended to be the speaker for this year's 8th grade graduation. I literally laughed out loud when the principal reached out to me. If you know me you know I completely spas out and turn 50 shades of red during any form of public speaking. Not to mention the fact that I don't remember the last time I spoke with an 8th grader nor have any idea how to resonate with one. But I am going to step (wayyy) outside my comfort zone and do my best.

This is where the favor kicks in...I would very much appreciate your comments on what advice you would give to graduating 8th graders as they enter high school. Pretty, pretty please. I need all the help I can get.

I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend!

  1. Fab sale picks! Love the cuff you picked up for yourself! I have to say, I'm a bit relieved that that perfect pink bag is already sold out....I'd be very tempted to splurge on it! ;) lol. Isn't cookout food the best?! Thanks for linking those yummy recipes. :) Wishing you all the best with the speech!! xo - Brenda // Chatting Over Chocolate

  2. Good for YOU!!!! That is awesome. (I would be nervous too, but you SO have to do this) :) Alright- my advice... don't be afraid to try new things these next 4 years, don't be afraid to use your voice and speak what is true to you - you are much stronger than you think.

  3. After my post yesterday and yours today, I'm convinced I need the Naked foundation. I'm all about the summer recipes, too, and that Mexican corn salad is right up my alley! You have to do the speech, even if you're nervous! I'd tell them to stand up for others (and themselves) and build others up. It's hard to do at that age!

Your site looks great from my phone! I'm starting the weekend early in Cincinnati and I'm already in the mall parking lot lol. Cheers to the weekend, hopefully going to grill and chill I have no idea what to tell 8th graders. One thing is that their choices from now on can affect their future. It's true, but it's boring. You'll have to say meaningful things in a way that keeps their attention, which is incredibly hard.

  12. Happy Friday! Doesn't Ulta always have that effect every time you go in there? It's near to impossible to come out with just one thing. That shrimp recipe looks amazing and we'll definitely be checking out the sandwiches for a picnic. Have a great weekend!

  13. For me, high school was less dramatic than middle school; people are less mean and everyone can form a sort of bond they didn't during the catty, bullying years of middle school. This could be a point to bring up! (If that sort of thing might apply in that region/neighborhood/etc)

  14. I have heard such good things about that foundation! I am glad you like it. It is on my list to buy during Sephora's next sale. Have a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend!

  15. That's what I think too..I know they're not going to pay attention to anything I say so maybe I should aim to target the adults? So at least they'll think I'm competent

  16. The sauce looks similar to bang bang sauce from Bonefish grill..which is amazing!

  22. If I wasn't so dang cheap, I'd wear entirely Urban Decay makeup. It gets such great reviews! And I have no idea what to tell you on the 8th grader front...good luck with that! :)

  23. Congrats on being asked to speak, how fun! I'd tell them to enjoy high school because it flies by. High school is where people may meet their future spouses, BFFs, etc so be open minded and treasure your friendships. Study abroad if their high school allows it. Appreciate and thank you parents! Stay off social media (ha!) and be kind to other another, no more bullying!

Glad to have found you in the link up too! :)

  26. love the recipes for the paprika chicken and mexican corn salad! Pinned- hopefully i'll have time to make one this weekend.
As for the 8th graders- I would tell them that high school can be a big place, but encourage them to join in as many activities that they can. Sports, musicals, band, yearbook, chess club- all of them are so important help build a sense of community with your peers. And they might learn something new! frankly I would tell this to freshman in college too, but it's sort of the same right?
